An LDF world exclusive, L'Italienne is the first commercially available, premium distilled absinthe from Italy. The second version is still batch-distilled in small quantities by the Italian absintheur Stefano Rossoni at Distilleria Alpe in the beautiful Valle d'Aosta, near the French border.

This absinthe is made according to the most classic and authentic protocols, and great effort has been put into the herb selection: the floral and dry Italian wormwood comes from Piemonte, grown in the same fields that supply the best vermouth brands, while the other herbs come from a private farmer in Emilia Romagna who focuses on obtaining the finest qualities by growing botanicals in a natural enviroment and without pesticides.

L'Italienne follows the feminine and floral style absinthes, of which the most famous historic brand was Premier Fils. Its maker feels the lower anise profile allows the complex and subtle floral bouquet to be more fully appreciated. It's quite certainly the most floral absinthe on the market: L’Italienne greets the nose with warm honeysuckle notes, sweet anise and hyssop; the taste is dry, very perfumed and complex, and accents the aroma with floral wormwood, lavender and powerful Italian fennel in the front.

Batch #2 also shows improvement in louche and mouthfeel from the first release, even though the anise content is unchanged. A very slow ice-water drip is recommended to fully appreciate this delicate absinthe.

An LDF exclusive, L'Italienne was the most eagerly awaited absinthe of summer 2008! It is the first commercially available premium distilled absinthe from Italy, batch distilled in small quantities by Stefano Rossoni at Distilleria Alpe in the beautiful Valle d'Aosta, near the French border. When LDF first tasted samples of the prototype absinthe we immediately decided that it deserved a wider audience and worked with the creator to make it a reality.
L'Italienne uses a lighter, Italian wormwood from Piemonte, which allows the floral character to dominate the blend. All the rest of the fine-quality herbs used in its production are grown at a natural park in the Emilia-Romagna region of Northern Italy. Since its limited release, it has won praise from absintheurs everywhere with its 'room-filling floral fragrance'.
