This classic aperitif is an infusion of numerous herbs and roots including bitter orange peel, wormwood, gentian, rhubarb, and other aromatic plants. It is highly versatile and deserves a place in any serious bar cabinet.
4cl 22% abvKallnacher Red Absinthe Bitter is a complex and tasty cocktail fused from two historic 19th century aperitifs. Its base is the 1864 Italian Bitters of Turin (the most familiar version of this aperitif is known under the brand name Campari) - an infusion of 12 aromatic herbs and roots including gentiane, ginger, coriander and hyssop.
100cl 16% abv (32 proof)Pontiane is a speciality of the Pontarlier region. It is made from distilled gentiane root, locally prized for its digestive qualities. The Michel Eau de Vie de Gentiane is used as its base, mixed with an additional maceration of gentiane and then lightly sugared.
