Adnams absinthe rouge is a traditionally made absinthe produced at the Copper House distillery in Southwold. Absinthe rouge is extremely rare. One historical example exists, Absinthe Rosé Oxygénée by Rosinette, made famous by the publicity poster. Please note that it is normal for the natural red colour to change and fade with age.

When freshly distilled the absinthe shows a cherry/cranberry red colour fading to orange with age, this is entirely naturally derived from hibiscus flowers. The nose is complex, floral and candied with a background of wormwood, the louche is slow forming and thick with the colour of parma violets.
The taste is floral with the hibiscus flowers contributing a unique flavour that sits along side of the wormwood and anise to produce a creamy round and slightly sweet mid-palate and a long finish.

Customer Reviews

The Rouge is my favorite  The Copper House Rouge is my favorite of the several other absinthesI've tried. The floral taste coming from the hibiscus is superb. The alcohol levels,to me, are perfect for the absinthe experience. And the color pleases the eye raising the expectation of a unique taste. Wonderful product!   Joseph Lukomski - Michigan, US
