Our Committment to Quality

As the world's leading distributors of distilled absinthe, we at Liqueurs de France are committed to providing total satisfaction to our customers. We have been fortunate enough to have sampled vintage absinthes and we know that the best examples of these are fantastically complex and subtle. French and Swiss absinthe was traditionally made from a basic trio of plants: wormwood, green anise and fennel, then coloured with Roman wormwood, hyssop and lemon balm. In addition, individual distillers used a range of other aromatic plants such as mint, coriander, angelica and tansy to subtlety alter the flavour to their own unique style or regional preference. The best absinthes were only made by placing plants directly in an alambic still and distilling the whole charge.

We decided from the outset that we were only interested in producing absinthe made by distilling traditional plants, in the exact same fashion as the best of the old absinthe producers. To achieve this we have visited artisanal distillers in France and Switzerland - some of whom continue to use original 19th century absinthe alambics - and commissioned the best to recreate absinthe in the most authentic fashion, and some cases, to our unique specifications. Each distillery produces their own individual style of absinthe, some light and floral, others more complex and intense.
